The Platform Brings Six New Retailers to Detroit

Six new retailers have opened or soon will open their doors at Platform properties in Detroit’s Midtown and New Center neighborhoods. New retailers include a restaurant, bridal salon, waxing studio, and gelateria at Woodward West. A new fitness studio will open at The Ellington, while a new hair salon recently opened in the historic Fisher Building.

Michigan State University’s endowment has purchased a majority interest in the historic Fisher Building in Detroit’s New Center area. In addition to buying the Albert Kahn-designed tower affectionately referred to as “Detroit’s largest art object,” the endowment has purchased two surface parking lots adjacent to the 441-foot tower as well as the Baltimore Garage previously controlled by Detroit-based developer and landlord The Platform LLC.

The board also approved the City of Detroit brownfield redevelopment authority’s request for $882,821 in state brownfield tax incentive reimbursement for the project.

Woodward West opens for residents
