Detroit muralist WC Bevan turns political angst into artistic ecstasy

It seems fitting that William Bevan keeps his studio in a rather unassuming space. The artist, who is responsible for dressing up Detroit with his vibrant murals, houses his art inside a once-abandoned, recently renovated theater in Southwest.

A black-and-white mural, giving a nod to the city’s automotive history with an art deco influence, now greets travelers passing the Baltimore Garage in the New Center area. WC Bevan, an internationally renown muralist, painted the piece on the east and west walls along Second and Third avenues.

The Platform continues its work renovating multiple properties in New Center. The development group who owns the Fisher Building recently invested $6.5 million into renovating a New Center parking structure across from Northern Lights Lounge, including the addition of a new mural.
